One-person exhibit at the Nave Museum in Victoria, Texas
November 5 -December 20 2020.

BEYOND THE BACKDOOR features new paintings about adaption and growth.

My backyard, next to my studio, is my enclosed inspiration. This tranquil space under a canopy of oak tree leaves became a sun-drenched lawn after Hurricane Harvey. It did not take long for the altered environment to inspire entirely new gardening ideas. As I revise my garden, I am also revising my painting style. I'm reminded of how a gardener experiments where to plant and how the soil, light, and fertilizer affect the end results.

During the years of preparation for this exhibit I also had the privilege and visiting and becoming inspired by many gardens in the South Texas area.
